Why is Yemeni Sidr honey so expensive?
Yemeni Sidr honey is one of the best kinds of monofloral honey available. It is considered to be the most expensive honey in the world. This is due to its limited availability and its unique nutritional and medicinal properties.
There are essentially two types of Sidr honey. One is harvested in the winter season and the other in the summer. Sidr trees flower two times in the year. Once in the winter and the second time is in the summer.
The Sidr harvested in Summer – is thinner, and has a strong smell and taste – this is more well known. The Sidr harvested in winter more thicker and brown.
We have just received our Summer harvested stock! Pure Sidr, from the mountain areas of Wadhi Doh’an. It is amazing (masha’Allah), really hits the back of the throat!
